It's about the end of this semester, I had learned countless thing that I didn't know before. From the punctuation to the argument article, although it was hard when I got approach with them first time, for they were really different from Chinese way to compose. After about 4 months, It is really touching that we can do so much improvement; however, there still have long way to go. No matter what, we have to keep it up!

     After learning the way to use every kind of punctuation, Mrs.Chen started to taught us different kind of article. First of all we learned narration, different from Chinese, English narration emphasize more on the imitating narration but not comparison. This class really gave me lots of new information that I'd never been aware of before. I will keep working hard in this class.

     Entering SCU is kind of breakthrough to me, since it is really first time for me to study and learn by myself. There haven't been anyone that encourage or blame me for something. In others words, this is the first time for me to feel that I'm controlling my life without others bothering. Day after day, I started to get used to with this kind of new life gradually. In this class, we learned the basic way to use punctuation. Although it's really tricky and boring, Mrs.Chen said it's really important to use punctuation properly in our article. Therefore, I'll hang on it!

The Book I’d Never Read

     Among all the thing in our life, it's friendship that must be the most precious. When it comes to the issue, it will always remind me of the 14-year friend, Caroline.

     Everything can be traced back to 2001. Thanks to our fate, we get acquaintance with Caroline. The first day I met her still seems to be yesterday news to me. As soon as I knew Caroline, she had been an appealing and interesting girl, and I could feel something in my mind on the spot. Walking through 14 years and those countless hardships, we used to believe that nothing could separate us and we could be together for goods. However, no matter how great a party is, it will end, and so did us eventually. Last year, 2012, facing to our future, we had our first quarrel, for she wanted me to study abroad in America. Not knowing the reasons, I insisted studying in Taiwan or Hong Kong but not America. That was the first time for me to be stubborn, and the last time, too. Standing in front of the game of our friendship, I think that both of Caroline and I lost the game now. I missed her charming voice, short curly hair and the warmest heart that I had encounter. At the last day we met, it was a wonderful spring day; however, my heart was so cold that everything seemed to be frozen. The sunset of 14 years told us that we lost. That was the first time for me to face such sorrow emotion, and it was too heavy for me to bear, so I ran away. I ran away like a coward.

      That's how our story ended. After she disappeared as a shadow, the farther time went, the more I missed her. Starting to wander in my mind, I asked myself why this happened. There were a French book, L'élégance du hérisson, which was the last gift she gave to me, but I had never read it. Actually, I was afraid of reading the book, for that's my way to avoid the memory. Recently, I gave it a try to read the book telling about a mystery story but also appealing just like her. The story revolves mainly around the characters of Renée Michel and Paloma Josse, residents of an upper-middle class Left Bank apartment building at 7 Rue de Grenelle – one of the most elegant streets in Paris . A girl with a dream which is extremely different with others usual dream caused huge trend to literature of Paris. That’s committing suicide at her 13-year-old birthday, and she set fire to her home. However, due to my French is still too poor to finish the book, I hadn’t read the whole book, but I’ll hang on it! Though we may never meet the other, the book will always be the most precious thing for me.

     Nowadays, there will always be some corners that we had never taken a glimpse on in the society. In other words, it's the dark side of our world. The world full of gambling, drugs, drinking, smoking, just to name a few. A innocent girl of gentle birth lost her direction just for a gang boy who was carefree and bad. Upside down, and everything in his life became everything in her life. From books to guns, from classmates to gangster, the helpless girl started to walk on the edge of our world; however, there was no one could give her a hand. No one helped her. The fallen angel had lost on the fork of the path in her life. The place with violence but without care would happen endless sacrifice, and so did their world. A reckless hand took life from the boy's cousin in a fleeting moment, and it is this event that turned everything in her life into her deep fear. The boy who experienced such unaccepttable death changed into a cruel man. A cruel man with violence but without care. That's to say, he was part of the world. As we all know, no matter what, bad guys would run into their sentence sooner or later, including the cruel man. The fallen angel was faced to everything she didn't know and also everything she would never want to know. There's another fork on her life now. "What should I do now?" She asked herself this way, counting the day before the jail released that cruel man. She asked herself this way.

Something You May Never Know

     Among all the things in our life, it’s those touching moment that makes a trip so unforgettable. When it comes to the trip, I will always remember forever, one piece of my memory will flash into my mind instantly. I’ve been to Africa as a voluntary worker from Eden Social Welfare Foundation. Traveling to Africa was a kind of tough encounter, for you had to take some medicine or shot for fear of coming down with AIDS or other disease. However, everything would seems really worthwhile when you saw the smile on the faces of those extremely skinny orphans.

     I traveled to Africa as voluntary worker in 2011. It’s about 2 years ago, but when I try to memorize the trip, everything and every moment are just like yesterday news in my memory. Not only the kids living there but the environment also made me start to treasure what I had already got now. Everything I encountered in Africa was so astonishing to me at the First day. Left the quality of the drinking water, there was even little water if we didn’t arrive at there, so did those innutritious foods! What’s worse, it was really a unbelievable shock for me to believe that those orphans were brought up with these sorts of things. When I saw these children smile at me for my teaching or aid, I started to think this way, “Why can’t everyone in the world smile like them? The smile doesn't have other meaningless things. What’s wrong with us? We have already got everything we need!” Well goes the proverb, “ No matter how it changes, stay real.” It has been the motto that I always bear in my mind. Remember that treasuring what you have now, and being appreciated for who gave you these. There’s no scar that won’t fade away, so why is sadness still on you face?

More Than You Think

     For some personal reason, I chose the economy as my lesson for this semester. This chance made me walk into a world I had never thought about. Not only shocked but I also felt how small I was to this world. It was the first time that I got so close to the concept which is much more than I thought it was. Everything had to start from the 10 principle in economy, to make this short, I will just mention the important point. There're four factors that will influent the decision of the costomer. They are other choices, thing you have to give up, efficence and temptation. When you read the four factors you may think "I have understood them hundreds years ago." In the meantime, you are so wrong. Left first three of them alone, let's focus  on the fourth factor "temptation." As we all know, if the government raises up the tax of apples, the price of apples will raises relatively high, therefore, there will be more costomers buying pears instead of purchasing apples. At the same time, for making more profit of apples, farmers will hire more worker to work for them, so there are will be more apples for costomers to buy. That's how we see the "temptation" originally. But its meaning is more more than you thought. 

      Take the seat belt law for example, due to more and more drivers using seat belts for fear of being imposed a fine, drivers will start to think this way: " I use seat belt when I am driving. In other words, my life gets protection." This kind of thought brings countless accidents, for the drivers knows they are safe, so they won't drive so carefully. No matter if you are buying this, it's truth. Compared to the drivers died for car accidents, the number of the passengers died for car accidents raised incredibly high after the seat belt law is pronounced. This was not only just a concept of economy, it is a case that really happen in the world we live. Everything have both sides, and you will always take care of what you choose to do. 

About 1Q84

     For me, reading 1Q84 is a accident combined with lots of coincidence, I had never thought that I would encounter such a incident at that time.
    In 2011, if my memory served me right, it was a rare rainy day in that summer. I just got acquaintance with a geniuse that had been the first place in the whole school, he was really different from I thought he was originally. Well goes the proverb, "Never judge a book from its cover. " The incident reminded me again. As soon as he knew that I liked to read the novel of Haruki Murakami (村上春樹), he asked me to read 1Q84, for it's really an outstanding piece among his every novels. However, regarding it as unrespectation for the writer to reading his books without buying, I refused his kindness at that time. After a couple of days, 1Q84 Book 3 was republished, which made me became eagerer to 1Q84. Eventually, it happened one day on my way to home, I found a bookstore which was holding on sale for all the novels written by Haruki Murakami, purchasing 1Q84 without hesitation. It seemed to be an accident but I have never felt regretful for buying them, even now. In fact, I have never be so sure that I had to do it like that. On the spot, I could really feel something was pushing me. 

      That's why I read 1Q84. It was never an easy thing to remind everything in a book, especially the novels written by Haruki Murakami because of his plain and peaceful writing way; however, 1Q84 broke the ice of this kind of situation. Changing the way of composing is extremely hard mission for every writer, particularly when everyone didn't want Haruki Murakami to change, but he did it and did it amazingly. That's why 1Q84 caused such a sensation at the period. 

     The story used the concept of parallel worlds, which means when our world is processing, there're more than one different world is processing, too. In other words, there are others you doing other things in other worlds when you are reading my article now. The story is about two perallel worlds, which are our own world in 1984 and the other world (1Q84) has an usual moon and a blue moon. There are two main characters in the story, 天吾 (A male editor with great talent in narration but is not creative. )and 青豆 ( A female professional killer with great skill, working for a place protecting every bulliied females). They were classmates when they were in elementary  school. For 青豆 was bullied by classmates, 天吾's kindness grasped her out from desperation; however, they saperate for different junior school without knowing they loved each other.  Now if you start to think this book is soup, I can tell you that you are so wrong. After a decade, they were involved in 1Q84 in the same time without knowing each other but believing it. Both of they went through countless dangers which is really hard to describe. All I can tell you now is that it worth you. 

      Hope 1Q84 will have a good sell. 

Looking Forward

On May 13^th, 1995, to the expectation of my family, I was born in a township located in Northern Taiwan called “Danshui.”

    In my childhood, my family was an ordinary family. My father is an art consultant who loves to collect all kinds of art pieces and my mother is an attentive housewife. My older brother works as a journalist in SET, which is one of the most prestigious television stations in Taiwan. Despite the disparity in age between my brother and I, we have been on good terms with each other since my birth. Therefore, I am good at getting along with others. As the second child in my family, I am, however, not a dependent or spoiled child. Instead of it, for having an older brother, I always refer him as my idol and make every effort to be as prominent as him. Moreover, my older brother had a great influence on me, so I became more mature than my peers. I think that everyone should take his own live seriously and cherish every minute on this world. Our life may be hard and full of difficulties, but I really enjoy the process of overcoming the obstacles and completing the tasks.

     At the age of four, I entered Taipei Wego Private School, which is known for its diversified education. Growing up in such a complete humanistic environment, I learned the importance of principle and responsibility. When I was in grade 5, my brother won the championship in a contest of writing, which made our parents really proud of. It was this incident that developed my curiosity of literature. I was curious about how to transform Chinese characters into an attractive article. This was my first contact with the true language. Before long, I entered high school. For the purpose of catching up with my brother, I gave myself a shot in participating in my first contest of writing.

Out of my expectation, I got the first place in the contest. Being able to get the affirmation is the most inspiring experience that I had ever encountered. Therefore, I not only took part in more contest of writing successively but also accepted the instruction of the professional teacher. With the instruction of my teacher, my writing ability improved significantly.

My interest in language brought me to the world of literature. I have been enchanted by this creative world, so I have decided to major in English department. My aim is to explore the world of literature and the world of great writers, opening my eyes and cultivating my mind through this great world of literature. By this way, I can compose more articles which are not only beautiful but also inspirational. Entering SCU will be a great step of my path to success.

     As for my future, I plan to study oversea because of the great expectation aroused by the fascinating descriptions in many journals of students studying abroad. Consequently, I have been keeping watching for information of this aspect from friends, teachers and mass media. And then I see a lot of examples and elites which even strengthen my determination to carry out my dream! In the forth year in SCU, I will take the TOEFL and SAT tests and make applications for graduate schools in America. After my graduation, I shall go back to Taiwan and find a job in research institutes or companies. I want to be one of the literature students who have the privilege of studying great writers’ works and exploring their inner worlds, their outlook on life, their roles as learned scholars and their influences on the world. I hope I can also make some contribution to the awareness of culture and literature in our society since its importance has been neglected.  I learned a line from my English teacher, which is “Not until you give it a try will you not know the result.” I got passion and expectation for myself, and wish you would give me an opportunity to make my dream come true.

     In conclusion, I am quite sure of myself and always persisting in carrying out my plan for the future. To reach my goal, I have tried my best through carefully mapping out my schedule with a hope that my life will go just as I want. This is out of the question and it may need to be adjusted to the changing circumstances though, I will hang on it.
